The Sunday School at our church is small but growing. We have around 12 children, who range in age from 5-12 years,
on our roll. We run the Sunday School during the
church service and the kids go out mid-service.
Over the past year we have been learning about "Heroes of the Bible", "The Importance of Prayer", "The Miracles of Jesus", "The Truth about Easter" and more recently "The Early Church".
As well as our Bible- based teaching, we incorporate singing, games, activity sheets and even manage to have some morning tea. We are very thankful for the teenage helpers that give the 8 Sunday School teachers great assistance in the weekly Sunday School sessions.
In 2008 the Sunday School was involved in supporting the Bible Society's Children's Project, "Caring for Cambodia".
As part of this project the kids raised money through doing jobs at home and sticking the money onto a Cambodian flag.
In addition, some of the older kids and their parents (as well as some of the young adults in the church)
completed a "Rice-a-thon"- they ate only rice for 24 hours.
The Girls Zone group joined in with us on the project and altogether $2000 was raised to send back packs, containing toiletries and a Bible, written in the Cambodian language, to children in Cambodia. This year the project is for children in India and Pakistan and we are looking forward to getting involved again.
The kids took part in the church service 3 times last year.
- We made a "movie" of the nativity story and backed it with some "rap" music sung by Colin Buchanan.
- We showed this in the church service - and got the church to join in the rap chorus.
- Also we have performed a puppet show and taught the congregation some of the songs we sing in Sunday School.

This year we are saving our weekly offering and at Christmas plan to send a gift to children overseas through the
World Vision Smiles program.
This program supports children and their families who are in need, by ordering a "gift"
through the SMILES catalogue. If you are interested in finding more about this project visit worldvision.com.au/smiles..
We look forward to the year ahead and to what we are going to learn about being a Christian and living for the Lord Jesus.
