Paul says 'I urge you' NIV... I 'beseech you'... I beg you... live a life worthy of this great blessing you have received by grace through faith in Christ
Well that's what the rest of Ephesians seeks to teach us...
- It involves Living as Children of light: dealing with our old sinful nature- dealing with the "dark side" of our lives
- It involves our home life: men are called to be loving husbands and women to be submissive wives and children to be obedient to their parents
- It involves our work life: to be good wholehearted employees and fair bosses in our place of employment
- It involves taking a firm stand against evil- standing up for Jesus on the great spiritual battlefield of life
But before he deals with any of these crucial issues for us as Christians, Paul has one thing above all others on his mind!
If you are going to live a life that's honouring to God... that's pleasing to Christ ...
you must live a life that is marked by a concern for and a commitment to the unity of the Body of Christ
You must be a "United Supporter" !
Ephesians 4: 3 -6 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit-- just as you were called to one hope when you were called--one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
The fact that Paul deals with this issue first illustrates the high place this holds in Gods purposes for his people!
