My Team Mission Summer In Cambodia

Training tomorrows missionaries today.

(Continued) Digging a trentchWe spent 8 days at an orphanage where the team taught English, dug a trench for a gray water pipe, helped renovate a building and helped with the orphanages cooking.‘

The orphanage runs a weekly outreach where there are some Christian songs, a gospel talk and 2 minute noodles are handed out.

We assisted in this on 2 Sundays, 1600 people came each week! At the orphanage we learnt to ‘Live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up as a fragrant offering a sacrifice to God‘ Ephesians 5:2

ChildrenWe spent 8 days at a farm the orphanage is setting up. The team helped locals construct a chicken coop, dug a trench for a fire hose and helped level the ground inside and outside a building. We also did all our own cooking. Our team helped in the first of its kind outreach to the farming community, we gave a gospel talk (with a translator), sang some songs, and handed out 2 minute noodles and some Khmer people shared their testimony and sang some songs. 800 people heard the gospel and about Jesus for the first time!!!

We spent a week at the Cambodia Teen Missions base. The team helped plaster and paint some of the buildings. We also did all our own cooking. We had the opportunity to learn of Cambodia‘s tragic past visiting the Killing fields and S21. We also were able to visit the amazing Angkor Wat Temples. They were beautiful!

CroudOur summer was full of trials such sickness, a cooker exploding, lack of sleep due to animals and ants getting into a lot of our food, even through aluminium foil! It was intense! But God was teaching us ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me‘ Phil 4:13 and to rejoice in God in all circumstances Phil 4:4

Teen Missions finishes with a debriefing program to praise God for the work of the summer and to prepare the team to go back. It focuses on keeping on following God and looking for ways to serve in your church at home, and witnessing to your community.

Teen Missions is aimed at High Schoolers but also really needs leaders (21+)!! They also have adult work teams. It is about ordinary people serving an extraordinary God! For more information and this year‘s teams or more information check out www.teenmissionsoz.com.au.
